How to grow a business online in a not-average way

How to grow a business online in a not-average way

Uncomfortable truths about making money from your expertise:

✅ The best ideas don't always win.
✅ The hardest workers don't always win.
✅ The most knowledgeable experts don't always win.

If you're an expert with great ideas, working hard but not making enough money – you know exactly what I am talking about.

It is frustrating to see people without your experience do better than you.

It's annoying to see those with no original ideas get paid 10X more than you.

It's irritating to see those who work few hours a day being able to buy their kids new cars for Christmas, while you can't.

But this is what happens when we take mediocre advice and put out a mediocre message.

To make the most money possible from your expertise, you should not follow the common advice.

The common advice is average.

Average is trash.

You need to change the way you do things.

No more playing to the lowest common denominator.

No more trying to make everyone happy while trying to build something big.

Kill the average

2023. should be the year you don't worry about inflation and making more money is the way to go about it. We need to learn how to grow a business online in a not-average way…

1. Put yourself out there.

Be loud.
Publish a lot.
Take people on the journey with you.
Don't delete your old stuff, let people see you're human.

2. Pick your focus.

Pick a platform to publish on and go all in on it. It's better to be amazing on one platform than mediocre on three.

3. Give before taking.

To grow you need to connect with people ahead of you. The biggest mistake is pitching someone to offer something they achieved years ago.

Sometimes you can't add to their bottom line, but you can add good energy to their lives. Share their content, recommend them to others, and start conversations with them. Sending a funny meme can open doors too.

4. Make money with free processes.

Taking good notes.
Believing in yourself.
Learning to think right.
Asking the right questions.

5. Take a stand.

No one likes lukewarm anything. Boring is… boring.

You have to “offend” the right people to attract the right people. If you talk about equality in everything and how capitalism is wrong, don't be surprised when you attract broke people.

6. Find the right people.

Even the best of funnels can't convert if you are not talking to the right people. Before trying to change the funnel – figure out if you're talking to the wrong person. Or don't even know who you're talking to.

7. Don't sell to everyone.

Just because someone has money, doesn't mean you have to sell to them. Every person you work with brings their energy to your life. Be picky who you let in, one bad client can ruin it for you.

8. Feed the hungry.

A low cost mastermind ($1000 a month) attracts people who are not successful nor hungry. You won't like them because they are the hardest to work with.

Find people who are hungry for success.

9. Turn on your advice filter.

If a person is not someone I aspire to be, I don't take advice from them. To get more specific, I don't take business advice from people who have not done it before. Business advice is more valuable coming from rich people.

10. Become a detective.

You don't have to be a creative genius to make money online. But you should be a great detective. When you're a great detective you can find holes in the markets to fill. A great detective finds opportunities because he knows what to look for.

11. Don't create a customer, collect it.

Everyone is telling you to find a “blue ocean”, something no one did before. Screw that.

Don't try to sell to cold audiences. It's way harder than selling to warm and hot audience. Go where the hot audience is and sell to them. Collect customers from your competitors' audiences.

12. Stop endless learning.

This is something I will never stop reminding you of. Learning “how to do something” is a form of procrastination. It makes you feel like you're making progress without taking any real action. Learn only the one thing that is ahead of you. Or learn things that you can apply over and over again. Everything else – hire it out.

13. Leave the herd.

Don't get locked into communities of people doing the same thing you do, following the same people, reading the same books.

Get out of the herd. Create ideas by reading less popular but deeper thinkers. If you hate social media, get clients offline.

Is slow growth really your fault?

The reason you're not where you want to be is not that you don't know enough. Or that your expertise isn't good enough.

It's because the most popular coaches are telling you a story that helps sell their programs. Maybe it worked for them. Or maybe they are regurgitating the story they learned from others, while having no real success of their own.

Those stories are the same because these “advisors” became who they are by copying the person before them. Coaches teaching coaches how to make money by teaching coaches to become coaches. It's a mouthful and it's true.

As an expert, you're coming into the game ahead of them. They don't have the skills you have. Allow yourself to stand out. Try things others aren't doing. Show what you know!

Let's recap the steps you will try in the next 12 months:

1. Put yourself out there.
2. Pick your focus.
3. Give before taking.
4. Make money with free processes.
5. Take a stand.
6. Find the right people.
7. Don't sell to everyone.
8. Feed the hungry.
9. Turn on your advice filter.
10. Become a detective.
11. Don't create a customer, collect it.
12. Stop endless learning.
13. Leave the herd.
